Royal Fort, St Michael’s Hill, Part 1

Archaeological investigations following demolition work within land occupied by Bristol University has exposed part of a purpose-built Civil War citadel, constructed during the Royalist forces’ occupation of Bristol from 1643-45 and used as Prince Rupert’s headquarters in the area still known as ‘Royal Fort’.
